Kompressor & V6 Engines
Dynamism and driving pleasure are two outstanding characteristics of the new C-Class. Hence, the new supercharged and V6 engines now pack more power under the hood for the road.
With its newly developed 1.8 litre supercharged engine, the C180 Kompressor and the C200 Kompressor belong to the most dynamic vehicles of their classes. Thanks to the TWINPULSE system, the 163 hp 4-cylinder engine in the C200 Kompressor accelerates from standstill to 100km/h in just 9.1 seconds! The 143 hp engine in the C180 Kompressor needs only 0.6 seconds more. And the best the power package isn't thirsty at all - it consumes only 7.9 litres in C180 Kompressor and 8.3 litres in the C200 Kompressor.
The top-of-the-range C320 with a new V6 engine is a newcomer to the C-Class. The C320 delivers a massive 218hp at 5700 rpm and 310 Nm at a range of 3000-4600 rpm and it achieves 0-100km/h in just 7.8 seconds.
Thermotronic Automatic Climate Control (optional)
When it comes to air-conditioning, the C-Class is the only car in its segment to have automatic climate control using sensors for sunlight and pollutant levels as well as an activated charcoal filter. The Thermotronic functions as follows
-
Automatic control of temperature and air distribution individually for the driver's and front passenger's sides;
-
Additional sensor signals for sunlight and pollutant levels in the outside air;
-
Standard-fitted activated charcoal filter;
-
Clearly organized display for temperature and fan speed;
-
Storage of additional individual setting data in the electronic ignition key;
-
Ventilation outlets at the rear.
Ellipsoid Firewall
This rigid structure withstands extreme loads as well as distributes crash impact forces evenly over a wide area. It optimizes occupant protection and also prevents harmful intrusions into the passenger cell.
Multi-function Steering Wheel
Using conveniently placed buttons on the steering wheel, you can now store your personal settings, recall information from the dashboard display, adjust the audio system (radio and CD player) and even the trip computer. All these controls are now easily at the reach of your finger-tips, so your eyes stay on the road and your hands can now stay on the wheel.
Rain sensor
The standard rain sensor can't control the weather but it can control the windscreen wipers. Whether its drizzling or pouring, the wiper interval is adjusted accordingly - the operating mode ranging from "off" to "continuous wipe".
