GL-Class Standard Equipment
	- 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission (7-speed) The GL-Class comes as standard with the 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission. It is operated via the DIRECT SELECT lever on the steering column. The seven forward gears in the 7G-TRONIC allow an ideally adapted engine speed at all times, thus cutting fuel consumption, while the shorter shift times and smoother shifts make gear changes easier as well as reducing the noise level.   - Acceleration skid control (ASR)   - Airbags with multi-stage deployment logic and sidebags for driver and front passenger, plus windowbags for all seat rows   - AIRMATIC air suspension with Adaptive Damping System (ADS) AIRMATIC provides ride comfort and driving dynamics at the highest level. The air suspension system works in combination with a fully automatic damping adjustment which continually adapts to the driving situation and provides excellent tyre vibration characteristics even when the road is only slightly bumpy. In addition the vehicle can be raised on poor or unfavourable stretches of road or when driving off-road to increase ground clearance. When driving continually at a high speed the vehicle is automatically lowered, which improves handling and reduces wind resistance - an additional contribution to reducing fuel consumption. Additional steering-wheel gearshift paddles also facilitate manual pre-selection of the seven gears, so drivers can decide whether they want to change gear themselves using the steering-wheel shift paddles or whether they prefer this to be taken care of automatically.   - Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with trailer stabilisation   - Electronic traction system for 4ETS all-wheel drive, incl. automatic brake indicator for driving downhill   - Front and rear fog lamps   - Impact sensors, incl. roll-over sensor, up-front sensor system and side satellite sensors   - LED tail lights   - Media interface (UCI) including cables for iPod, USB and 3.5mm AUX-IN connectivity   - NECK-PRO crash-responsive front head restraints   - PRE-SAFE® occupant protection system PRE-SAFE® can recognise the risk of an accident early on and activate safety systems which can reduce the change of injury for vehicle occupants. To accomplish this PRE-SAFE® continually monitors the sensor data from the systems such as ESP® and BAS and identifies events such as noticeable understeering or oversteering and emergency stops. If a critical driving situation is detected, the systems can respond within fractions of a second.
